It is advised to that candidates shall apply before the due date to avoid the last minute rush. Instructions for Filling Application Form
• Students seeking admission to the M. Sc. Degree Program mes are required to filled the application form online using the link provided above.
• On the left panel on the webpage, choose ‘Click here to Register’ and fill in the details such as Name, Email, Password etc. in the form.
• An activation link will be sent to the registered email Id using which the candidates can fill the Application Form.
• Once completed, download the filled in application form and submit it along with application form fee of Rs. 2,500/- (Rs. 1250/- for reserved category candidates domiciled in Maharashtra, for M.Sc. Economics only) payable by Demand Draft in favour of Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, payable at Pune and other required documents to ‘The Registrar, Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, 846, Shivaji , Pune – 411004 (Maharashtra)’.
Testimonials to be submitted along with the Application Form
1. S.S.C./Matriculation certificate as proof of date of birth.
2. Photo ID issued by competent authority (PAN/Aadhaar/Passport/Driving Licence
3. Statement of marks of all courses at the graduation examination, covering two or three years, as the case may be.
4. Graduation Certificate/Statement of Marks/Transcript, or, if the result is awaited, certificate from the institution to that effect.
5. Caste Certificate/Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority (for reserved category candidates).
6. Candidates belonging to Jammu & Kashmir should submit Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority of that State.
7. For Physically Handicapped (PH)category candidates, Certificate of Disability issued by the competent authority.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Candidate shall be a Graduate subject to minimum 50% marks in the aggregate at graduation.
2. The minimum percentage of marks is 45% for reserved category candidates.
3. Candidates who have appeared for the final degree examination during 2015-16 and whose results are awaited shall also be eligible to apply.
Note → However, in order to be considered for admission to the program me, their results must be conveyed by the respective universities to the Institute on or before 1st July 2016.
Entrance Examination
• Candidates seeking admission to the M.Sc. program mes at the Institute shall be required to appear for an Entrance Examination, to be held on as per the schedule. The entrance examination will be of 120 minutes duration and will consist of 100 objective type questions, each carrying one mark. One fourth of the marks will be deducted as negative marks for wrong answers.
• The Entrance Examination will comprise the following components:
Aptitude in Mathematics and Statistics (30 marks)
Analytical Ability and Reasoning (20 marks)
Undergraduate level knowledge in Economics (50 marks).
Entrance Exam for M.Sc
Candidates are expected to be familiar with content of a standard Economics course taught at the undergraduate level as well as national and international economic issues of importance at present and in the recent past. The list of broad topics to be covered in the entrance test is given below.

Descriptive Statistics- Measures of Central tendency → Measures of dispersion Correlation and Regression Coefficient → Probability Theory- Index Numbers.
Mathematics for economics → Algebra, Calculus and Matrix Algebra.
• Section B
Analytical Ability and Reasoning
• Section C
Microeconomics (Demand Curves, Price and Income Elasticity of Demand, Cost Curves, Equilibrium of Firm under different market structures).
Macroeconomics (National Income, Theory of Income Determination, Fiscal and Monetary Policy, Trade and Balance of Payments).
Basic theories of growth and development.
Recent developments in Indian Economy and international economic issues of contemporary importance.
