The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh was conceived in 1960 as a center of excellence which would endeavor to develop patterns of teaching in postgraduate medical education in as many branches as possible and attempt to produce specialists in several disciplines of medicine. It was also envisaged that these specialists would spread out in the country in various medical colleges and medical institutions and impart medical education of highest standard to the students and set up nucleus of excellence in their own institutions. The PGIMER was also given the responsibility to broaden the horizons of medical knowledge by intensive research in the field of health.
PGIMER M.SC Nursing 2016 Admission is made once a year. The session shall commence from 16th July, each year. The PGIMER M.SC Nursing 2015 Notice is published. PGIMER M.SC Nursing 2016 Entrance examinations will be held at Chandigarh only. Merit list of candidates is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the online entrance examination. Application Form for PGIMER M.Sc 2016
The candidate should fill PGIMER Online Application Form 2016 available on the PGI website, link for the same is given below. He/She should fill all the fields of the form. No fields should be left blank. After filling application form the candidate should deposit the application fee through challan form (Triplicate) in any branch of SBI.

Last date for filling of online application is 16 Apr 2016, however fee can be deposited in Bank by 25 Apr 2016 (Extended).
The candidate should ensure to take printout of application form after completing all details.

Eligibility Criteria
B.Sc. Nursing/Post-Basic from an Institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and PGIMER, Chandigarh as equivalent thereto with at least 55% marks in aggregate.
Should have minimum one year of work experience after registration as Registered Nurse & Registered Midwife by 16th April 2016 (the last date for submission of applications) in bedside nursing in a minimum 100 bedded hospital (for private hospitals only) or Public Health Nursing or in Nursing Educational Institutions recognized by the Indian Nursing Council after B.Sc. Nursing (4 years) or before and after Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing. The experience certificate in this regard must be on the letter head of the hospital and should clearly indicate the capacity of the hospital in terms of number of beds and should be approved by State/Central Govt.(S) failing which experience will not be considered.
Should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife as approved by INC or substitute registration in the case of male candidates fully qualified for nursing of men, women and children.
Medical Fitness
Medical fitness will be pre-condition for registration for all candidates. The candidates will be medically examined by a Medical Board, constituted by the Institute for the purpose to determine their medical fitness.
Admit Card
Roll Numbers/Admit Cards for appearing in the entrance examination are now available for eligible candidates and can be downloaded from the website by logging into the accounts on the website with their respective login id and password. Note: Question paper will consist of 100 questions of objective type with a single correct response out of four options. Negative marking (0.25) will be done for wrong answers.
Result of PGIMER M.Sc Nursing 2016
PGIMER M.Sc Nursing Result has been announced for July Session 2016 Admission. All the Final results are displayed on Notice Boards of Bhargava Auditorium / NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh. Hence, candidates may visit the PGIMER campus to check the results.
Merit List of PGIMER M.SC Nursing
Merit list of candidates is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the online entrance examination. Merit list is prepared for each category of candidates viz.
- General
- Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Other Backward Communities
- Orthopedic Physically Handicapped
- PGI deputed candidates to the courses of B.Sc. Nursing (Post Basic) and M.Sc. Nursing.
N.B. Seats for these categories are not interchangeable. However OPH candidates selected under OPH category will consume the seat of their own category like GEN / SC / ST & OBC.
Selection Process
- The selection will be made strictly in order of merit of the candidates in the respective merit lists of entrance test.
- The minimum marks required for the selection will be 50% for candidates belonging to General category including foreign candidates and 45% for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / OBC & OPH. 3. In the matter of selection, the decision of the Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh shall be final.

The 3rd Counseling for M.Sc. Nursing has been scheduled for 30th July, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh. There are two seats available for OBC category. In case the candidates from this category do not come in the counseling, the said seats will be filled up from general category candidates.
Note: The 2nd Counseling for M.Sc. Nursing has been scheduled for 25th July, 2016 at 11:00 AM at NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Fee Structure
Note: Course fee and hostel charges once deposited will not be refunded. *The security deposit of the candidates, who will leave the course midway after the joining, will also be forfeited. Hostel security of other students will be refunded on completion of full course & vacation of hostel, after deduction of dues, if any.
