Admission and Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to appear for AP POLYCET :

1. Candidates should have passed S.S.C. Examination conducted by State Board of Secondary Education Andhra Pradesh or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, by the Board of Secondary Education, A.P.

2. Candidates belonging to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other schemes of Examinations recognized as equivalent to SSC by AP. Government should have passed all the subjects.

3. Candidates belonging to NIOS/APOSS Examinations recognized as equivalent to SSC by A.P.Govt. Should have passed all the subjects, including Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Social Studies or Word Processing (English) with, minimum of 35% Marks in each subject.

4. Candidates who passed SSC compartmentally are also eligible.

Admission Procedure :

The qualified candidates of POLYCET are informed that admission into Polytechnic will be conducted based on Web Counseling. In this process every candidate who seeks admission has to attend for Certificate Verification in any one of the Help Line Centers (HLC). After Verification Certificates Candidates have to Exercise Options indicating courses and polytechnics in which they are interested in joining in the order of preference for allotment of seats. Allotment orders will be placed on the website. Candidates have to download the allotment order and pay the Tuition Fees, if any, in any one of the branches of Andhra Bank/Indian Bank in the State and report to the polytechnic.

Web Counseling :

1. Issue of Notification: The Director of Technical Education (DTE) issues a notification during first week of June, in prominent newspapers indicating the date wise ranks of the candidates who have to attend for Registration, Verification of Certificates and Schedule for Exercising options and DTE will also notify the list of Help-line Centres. Candidates who fail to report for registration and Certificates verification will not be considered for allotment of seats in any of the polytechnics.

2. Certificate Verification: Candidates should produce the following certificates

  • Hall ticket
  • Adhar Card
  • Rank
  • SSC or Equivalent marks memo
  • Study/Bonafide Certificate from III to X Class
  • Caste Certificate (Permanent) of SC/ST/BC/Minorities (if applicable)
  • Latest Income Certificate issued by MRO issued after 01.04.2013 should also be Submitted (in case the candidate desires to claim fee exemption).
  • PH/NCC/CAP/Sports and Games Certificates (if applicable)
  • Transfer Certificate.

3. Candidates will be issued a receipt of Certificates at Help-line Centres after Verification.

4. Exercising Options: After Certificate Verification in Help-line Centres, a Blank Option Form (specimen), List of Polytechnics with the courses offered by them and course codes will be given to all the Candidates. Based on the Course Codes and polytechnic Codes, Candidates may list out polytechnic in order of preference, the courses which they intend to give options for. For the reference of the candidates, the last rank up to which candidates were admitted in different polytechnics/courses in the previous academic year would be made available to candidates on the web site. The candidate should first prepare a priority number with a list of courses in the blank option form before he/she attempts to enter the options on the web. Candidates can exercise any number of options. After the finalizing the options, he is advised to take print out of the final option form for his/her record. Help-Line Centres shall demonstrate the detailed procedure of Exercising Options immediately after the certificate verification.

5. Final Allotments of Seats: Based on the options exercised, seat allotment will be made as per merit rank and category (SC/ST/BC/PH/NCC/CAP/Sports and games quota etc ) of the candidate. The final Allotments will be placed on the Web on the scheduled date announced before hand and the Candidates will have to down load the allotment order from the web site.

6. Payment of Seats & and Reporting at Polytechnic: Candidates, with downloaded allotment order, have to remit the fee in one of the designated banks and obtain a receipt. After that candidate with allotment order and Fee receipts have to report at the respective Polytechnics where the Seat is allotted on or before the dates specified in the allotment order. If Candidate fails to report for admission at the allotted polytechnic by the dates stipulated, the allotment stands cancelled and candidate will have no claim for further allotment of seats.

Institutional Spot Admission:

After the conclusion of counseling, certain seats are vacant in Polytechnics. Candidates of the following categories are informed to attend for Spot admissions to be conducted as per the schedule given below at the institutes where they wish to join.

  • Candidates qualified in POLYCET but not secured seats so far.
  • Candidates qualified in POLYCET, secured a seat in earlier phases but not joined so far.
  • Candidates not qualified in POLYCET.
  • Candidates not appeared for POLYCET. Candidates who passed SSC/CBSE/ICSE or its equivalent in all subjects are alone eligible for the leftover seats. Candidates shall attend with all original certificates and fee 15,500/-. Candidates not appeared in POLYCET have to pay an extra fee of Rs.310/- whereas all candidates have to pay an additional processing fee Rs. 260/- (OC/BC/Minority) and Rs.130/- (SC/ST) besides the fee prescribed.
