KCET 2016 / Karnataka CET 2016 – Complete Notification about Application Form, Dates & Examination

The Government of Karnataka established Common Entrance Test Cell in the year 1994 for conducting of Entrance Test and determining the eligibility / merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates and the ward/s of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants to the First year or First semester of full time professional courses for Government share of seats in Medical, Dental, Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy, Engineering / Architecture courses, Farm science i.e, B.Sc. (Agriculture), B.Sc. (Sericulture), B.Sc (Horticulture), B.Sc(Forestry), B.Sc. Agri Bio Tech, BHSc.(Home Science), B.Tech (Agri.Engg), B.Tech (Food Technology), B.Tech (Dairy Tech), B.FSc (Fisheries), B.Tech (Food Science &Tech)., B.Sc. (Agri. Marketing & Co-Op), B-Pharma, Pharma-D courses.

KEA conducted Karnataka CET 2016 or KCET 2016 on 4th and 5th May, 2016. KCET 2016 was the entrance exam held to determine merit for admission to professional courses including engineering, medical, architecture, health sciences, agriculture, veterinary science and animal husbandry, pharmacy. Application Form

Before applying, you must ensure that you fulfill the eligibility criteria for your respective course. The information regarding eligibility criteria of KCET is extensive and defined in details in the information brochure. Some key points regarding being eligible for Karnataka CET are given here.

1. Candidate who has obtained seat in any discipline through KEA CET in any of previous years shall not be eligible to continue in the course to which he / she has been admitted during previous years immediately upon selection of a seat in any different discipline during the current year.

2. Once candidate has satisfied that he / she fulfills all the eligibility criteria for the particular course, proceed to Karnataka CET application form. This year the form filling is to be done online at http://kea.kar.nic.in/.

3. You will need to fill the following details in KCET 2016 application form.

4. Name of candidate, candidate’s father and mother.

5. Annual income of parent.

6. Religion, caste and reservation code.

7. Date of birth.

8. Qualifying examination details.

9. Communication details.

10. After filling up the form, you will be issued hall ticket for the examination. KCET 2016 hall ticket must be carried on the day of exam, and should be preserved for further admission process.

Application Fees

Exact fees to apply for KCET 2016 will be known once the notification is released. The application fee of last year’s Karnataka CET was as follows.

Eligibility Criteria

For each programme, eligibility conditions are defined for the KEA CET. This includes educational qualification, requirement of documents, domicile. Only after ensuring that he / she is eligible for the exam should they apply for KCET 2016. As the conditions and criteria set is vast, it is strongly advised to read the information brochure and understand the exhaustive eligibility criteria. The important points under this, as expected from last year’s brochure are given below.

Eligibility criteria  for Medical / Dental (MBBS / BDS)

Candidate should have passed 2nd PUC or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology English as one of the Languages. Minimum marks to be obtained in PCB (aggregate) is 50% (40% for SC, ST, Cat 1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B candidates).

Eligibility criteria  for Engineering (BE / B.Tech)

Candidate should have passed 2nd PUC or equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science as optional subjects with English as one of the languages. Minimum marks to be obtained in optional subjects is 45% (40% for SC, ST, Cat 1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B candidates).

Admit Card (Hall Ticket)

The admit card of Karnataka CET exam is issued to those candidates who have submitted the application form before last date. KCET test admission ticket will be available for download from 15 April 2016 to 04 May 2016. Admit card of KCET must be downloaded using login details, which are generated during filling up of application form. KCET admit card must contain the following information.

1. Name and other details of candidate.

2. Thumb impression.

3. Examination center assigned.

KCET 2016 or Karnataka CET 2016 is the Karnataka Common Entrance Test held by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). Exam Pattern

KCET exam pattern explains the marking scheme, number of questions, and other relevant details that a candidate must know before attempting the Karnataka Common Entrance Test. Examination pattern of KCET 2016 shall be as determined by the Karnataka Examination Authority, and will be different for each question paper. Based on the course (Engg., Medical, Ayurveda, Pharmacy), candidates will have to attempt physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics papers in the KCET 2016 exam.

In order to obtain admission to any of the professional courses through KEA, a candidate must appear for the Common Entrance Test, which will be conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore. The Common Entrance Test 2016 will be conducted at various test centers. Key highlights of the KCET 2016 exam pattern, as expected from last year’s brochure is given below.

Karnataka CET shall be held at various test centers in Karnataka. Candidates who appear in the exam are expected to solve the subject wise KCET question paper as per course selected and qualify in the same.

1. Question paper of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics will each be of 60 marks.

2. Kannada language test of 50 marks shall be conducted for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates.

3. Agricultural practical examination of 200 marks to be held for claiming seats under agriculturist quota.

4. There is no negative marking.

Syllabus

The syllabus of KCET, as defined by the competent authority, is that the question papers of the Common Entrance Test will be based on the First and Second PUC syllabi prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State.

Kannada Language Test

1. The candidates claiming eligibility for Government seats under Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses and whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava, will have to undergo a Kannada language test, to establish their ability to speak, read and write Kannada. The Kannada Language test will be conducted by KEA as per the above schedule only in Bangalore Centre; therefore such candidates will have to appear for the ‘Common Entrance Test – 2016’ in a test centre located at BANGALORE Only. The relevant photocopy of the original documents of the parents in support of their claim such as marks cards, study certificates, etc., along with the CET admission ticket should be produced on the day of Kannada Language Test.

2. The minimum passing marks for all Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates shall be 12 out of 50 marks in Kannada Language Examination conducted by KEA in order to be considered for assignment of ranks and to become eligible for allotment of seats in CET-2016. (The Kannada Language Test paper will be of 4th Standard Level)

3. However, the Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates who have studied TEN full academic years in Kannada Medium from 1st standard to 10th standard in places outside the state of Karnataka need not appear for Kannada Language Test conducted by KEA.

Answer Keys


Common Entrance Test is held for four subjects – (1) Biology, (2) Mathematics, on day one; and (3) Physics, (4) Chemistry, on day two. Answer key of KCET 2016 is published online by the Karnataka Examinations Authority for each question paper set (code). Last year the versions code series was A1, A2, A3, A4, B1, B2, B3, B4, C1, C2, C3, C4, D1, D2, D3, D4. Results

Check result of KCET 2016 and download marksheet / score card. The rank secured will be important for getting admission in the course of candidate’s choice. CET-2016 candidates can check result on and after 28 May 2016.

1. After the exam is conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), official answer key of KCET 2016 shall be published. Candidates will be given a stipulated duration in which they can suggest discrepancies in the KCET answer key.

2. On the basis of answers marked in the KCET 2016 entrance exam, candidates will be awarded marks in the exam.

3. KCET 2016 result and merit list shall be based on the marks obtained by the candidate.

4. Candidate will have to obtain minimum qualifying (cut-off) mark (wherever specified) for the specified course, in order to get a place in the KCET 2016 merit list.

5. The CET Result will be published as per schedule. On the KEA Website after the declaration of the result, the candidates may not get ranks assigned.



Notified on 28 May 2016 

 In CET-2016 Brochure at page 14, Sl. No. 5 the criteria for determination of Merit / Rank to be read as “By taking marks in equal proportions in QE and CET in PCMB subjects”. It is wrongly printed as PCM subjects.

Notified on 05 Jul 2016 

 KEA is conducting document verification for CET-2016 candidates who have got spot rank and not verified, on 08-07-2016 in all the Helpline centres. Even the candidates who could not attend for document verification so far can also attend on 08 Jul 2016 from 10:00am to 5:30pm. Further, there will be no document verification for this year.

Notified on 19 Jun 2016 

 The eligible candidates who have not attended the document verification process can attend the verification process on 20 Jun 2016 or 21 Jun 2016 with all necessary original documents and one set of attested copies. The candidates who found eligible after verification of documents will only be considered for entry of options to become eligible for allotment of seats.

How to check Result 

Procedure to check Karnataka Examination Results is simple and candidate friendly. The official website of KCET 2016 shall be regularly updated by the Karnataka Examinations Authority and candidates can immediately see the link to check results as soon as it announced. 
Checking procedure, steps that are anticipated to be followed for results checking are given below.

1. Go to the link that says Results on kea.kar.nic.in (KCET) main page.

2. Enter CET number for example AA001 in the form, and click on submit.

3. On the screen you will be able to see detailed KCET result name wise.

Seats

Exact number of seats offered through KCET 2016 for admission 2016-2017 will be announced after the result is declared. Last year’s seat matrix published for the first round of counselling is given below. This will give you an idea of the scale at which the Karnataka CET 2016 will be held.
