PGIMER B.Sc Nursing Entrance Exam 2016 Details

The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh was conceived in 1960 as a center of excellence which would endeavor to develop patterns of teaching in postgraduate medical education in as many branches as possible and attempt to produce specialists in several disciplines of medicine. It was also envisaged that these specialists would spread out in the country in various medical colleges and medical institutions and impart medical education of highest standard to the students and set up nucleus of excellence in their own institutions. The PGIMER was also given the responsibility to broaden the horizons of medical knowledge by intensive research in the field of health.

Applications on the prescribed form are invited from eligible candidates for PGIMER B.Sc Nursing Entrance Exam 2016. PGIMER B.Sc Nursing Entrance is conducted for admitting students to B.Sc. Nursing (4 Years), B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic) and B.Sc. Paramedical courses for the academic session 2016. PGIMER B.Sc Nursing Application Form 2016

Application are invited for PGIMER B.Sc Nursing Entrance Exam from eligible candidates for following B.Sc. Nursing (4 Years), B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic) and B.Sc. Paramedical courses for the academic session 2016.

Eligible & Interested Candidates can apply online on or before 10 Jul 2016.

Application Process is now over..!!

Candidates are required to take the print out of the filled online application form and route their applications along with necessary documents through the employer.

The online application form will be treated as advance copy.

Instruction for Candidates

1. The candidate should fill his/her application form available on the PGI website i.e. http://pgimer.edu.in. He/She should fill all the fields of the form. No fields should be left blank. After filling application form the candidate should deposit the application fee through challan form (Triplicate) in any branch of SBI.

2. All candidates are directed to deposit the above fees in any State Bank of India branch by filling the challan form in the name of Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh (Examination) in the Power Jyoti Account No. 32211613319 and those candidates who have SBI account can also pay their fee through i-collect service No.32222954695.

3. The fee for GENERAL/OBC/ SPON/FN candidates is Rs.1000/- and for SC/ST/PWD Rs.800/-.

4. Candidates must note that no other form of payment of application fees like Demand Draft, Banker Cheque, Money Order, Postal order, etc. will be accepted under any circumstances, and any application form without a copy of the Challan will be rejected without any further correspondence with the candidates.

5. The candidate should ensure to take printout of application form after completing all details. Candidates belonging to Foreign National category and presently employed candidates are required to submit their NOC from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi and NOC from Employer respectively. The Applications of above mentioned categories i.e. Foreign national along with requisite certificates must reach the office of Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Sector-12, Chandigarh-160012 (for B.Sc. Nursing courses) and Registrar, PGIMER, Chandigarh (for B.Sc. Paramedical courses), at least 10 days before the commencement of the Entrance Examination.
The application form along with copies of certificates duly attested in support of educational qualification(s), experience, age/date of birth certificate, caste certificate, Fresh OBC certificate, challan form and NOC from the present employer, if employed should be brought along at the time of counseling. Candidates should sign all the documents forming enclosure to the application, and also put the date.

6. Incomplete applications will not be considered, and no correspondence will be entertained in this matter. All particulars in the application form must be entered carefully. All claims made in the application must be supported with documentary proof.
Candidates in employment must forward their application through proper channel. Online Application will be treated as advance copy of the application. Application through proper channel should reach the Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education of the Institute (for B.Sc. Nursing courses) and Registrar of the Institute (for B.Sc. Paramedical courses) within 15 days after the last date fixed for the receipt of applications.

7. No request for a change of category applied for shall be entertained after the submission of the application to the Institute.

8. The number of the seats where indicated are provisional and may be reduced/ increased without prior notice.

9. Roll Numbers/Admit Cards for appearing in the entrance examination will be available for download to eligible candidates approximately 15 days in advance and can be downloaded from the website by logging into their accounts on the website with their respective login id and password. Roll Numbers / Admit Cards will NOT be sent by post.

10. Candidates are requested to cooperate with the security personnel and other staff who have been instructed to carry out frisking at the entry of the examination hall/ premises.
Entrance examination/counseling will be held as per schedule. These dates will not be changed, even if the day is declared as a holiday or half-holiday by the Chandigarh Administration. Attending the counseling/counseling is mandatory.

11. The candidates invited for the selection may have to stay at Chandigarh for 2-3 days. No TA/DA is admissible to them for the purpose.

12. The decision of the Director of the Institute in the matter of selection of candidates for the various courses shall be final.

13. Any attempt on the part of a candidate to influence the selection, directly or indirectly, will be treated as disqualification.

14. Selected candidates shall have to pay the fee etc. on the same day, failing which his/her selection will be treated as cancelled and the seat will be offered to the candidates on the waiting list in order of merit.

15. The candidates selected for the course shall have to furnish the migration certificate from the University/Institute/Board from which they passed their last examination at the time of their joining, along with all other certificates in original in support of their qualification, experience, etc.
All admissions will be provisional till the verification/equivalency of certificates etc. received from the concerned Board/University. No stipend will be released till the verification of certificates from the concerned Board/University.

16. No individual intimation is sent to unselected candidates, and no correspondence on the subject is entertained.

17. The period of training is strictly full time at the Institute.

18. Ragging is a cognizable offence, and is banned in the Institute. Stern action shall be taken against any offenders. Any one indulging in ragging shall be punished appropriately. Punishment may include expulsion from the Institute, imprisonment up to three years and /or a fine up to Rs.25,000/-.
These rules are subject to change in accordance with the decision of the Institute taken from time to time.

19. In case of any dispute, the same shall be settled within the jurisdiction of Chandigarh.


Eligibility Criteria  Courses, Duration and Intake

  • B.Sc. Nursing (4 Years) programme is only for female candidates
  • B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic) – 2 years programme

The number of seats mentioned for Persons with Disability (PWD) will be adjusted against the category to which he / she belongs. The candidates having disability to the tune of 40% to 50% of lower extremity declared by authorized Medical Board of the State Govt./Govt. of India or any other Competent Authority authorized in this regard by the Government having Nursing expert as a member of the Board only to be considered.

B.Sc. Nursing (4 years) – (female candidates -Course Code-BSC/024)

The minimum educational requirement shall be 10+2 examination passed with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English or any other examination as equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates appearing in +2 examination in April-May 2016 can also apply for the course, but they will be issued Admit card/Roll numbers only if they submit the certificates/marks sheet from the respective Boards of their having passed the +2 examination to the Principal, NINE by 10 days before the commencement of the entrance examination.

Age Limit 

Not more than 25 years and not less than 17 years on 1st September, 2016 i.e. those born after 1st September, 1999 and before 1st September 1991 are not eligible.

B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic) – (Course Code- BSC/023)

1. Must have passed 10+2 or any other examination equivalent thereto.

2. Must have passed General Nursing and Midwifery with minimum of 50% aggregate.

3. Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife qualified from a recognized Institute & registered with respective State Nursing Council as approved by Indian Nursing Council (INC) or substitute registration in case of male candidates fully qualified for nursing of men, women and children.

In-service Candidates

1. Candidates are required to take the print out of the filled online application form and route their applications along with necessary documents through the employer.

2. The online application form will be treated as advance copy.

PGIMER B.Sc Nursing Admit Card 2016 is available here, candidates who have correctly completed the application form are eligible to download Admit card. The candidates must see the Admit Card/Roll No for detailed instructions to be followed during entrance examination. How to Download Admit Card

1. To download your Admit Card, you will visit PGIMER website www.pgimer.edu.in or link given above and click the same link ‘B.Sc. Entrance Exam – Session 2016’ which will take you to the same portal where you had filled your online application form.

2. Click on Login button, to login with your login id and password.

3. Click on ‘PRINT ADMIT CARD’ to download and print your Admit Card. (Please Note that Admit Card(s) will NOT be sent by Post).

4. Intimation about when to download the Admit Card will be sent to you through email.

Conditions which may render you ineligible

1. Insufficient fee.

2. Examination fee deposited in a bank other than State Bank of India.

3. Wrong/incomplete information given in the Application Form.

4. Non-fulfillment of any of the eligibility conditions, including those of age and educational qualifications etc.

The candidates who have qualified the written test are required to submit print out of online application form, a photograph and photocopies of mark-sheets of matric, 10+2, GNM, registration certificate, reservation certificate etc. on 17 Aug 2016 by 10:00 AM in the office of Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Chandigarh. These documents are essentially required for scrutiny of the application, failing which the candidature of the candidates will be cancelled. After the scrutiny based on these documents submitted by the candidates, the list of the candidates eligible for counseling will be displayed on 18.08.2016. The counseling is on 19 Aug 2016 at 11:00 AM in Lecture Theatre 1 of the Institute.

Preparation of Merit List

Merit list of candidates is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance examination. Merit list is prepared for each category of candidates viz.
  • General
  • Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Other Backward Communities
  • Persons with Disability
  • PGI deputed candidates to the course of B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic).

N.B. Seats for these categories are not interchangeable. However PWD candidates selected under PWD category will consume the seat of their own category like GEN/SC/ST & OBC.

Counselling for PGIMER B.Sc Nursing

The candidates who have qualified the written test are required to submit print out of online application form, a photograph and photocopies of mark-sheets

Selection Procedure

1. The selection will be made strictly in order of merit of the candidates in the respective merit lists of entrance test.

2. The minimum marks required for the selection will be 50% for candidates belonging to General category including foreign candidates and 45% for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / OBC & PWD.

3. In the matter of selection, the decision of the Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh shall be final.

Inter-Se-Merit

If two or more candidates obtain equal marks in the entrance examination for admission to B.Sc. Nursing (4 Years)/B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic) courses then their inter-se-merit for admission to the course shall be determined on the basis of the following:-

1. A candidate who has made more attempts in passing qualifying exam, (10+2/GNM) will rank junior to a candidate who has made lesser attempts.

2. If the attempts made in passing qualifying exam (10+2/GNM) are also the same, then a candidate who has higher marks in the said examination will rank senior to a candidate who has obtained lower marks.

3. If the attempts made in passing the said examinations and the marks obtained in the examinations are also the same, then a candidate senior in age shall rank senior to the candidate who is junior in age.

Medical Examination

Medical fitness will be pre-condition for registration for all candidates. The candidates will be medically examined by a Medical Board, constituted by the Institute for the purpose to determine their medical fitness.

Admission

Selected candidates should pay the fee etc. on the spot failing which her/his selection will be treated as cancelled and seat will be offered to the candidates next on the waiting list in order of merit.

Joining Time

Selected candidates must join their respective courses on the date(s) intimated to them at the time of selection or communicated to them in the admission letters. No extension in joining shall be granted. The selection of those candidates who fail to join by the stipulated date shall automatically stand cancelled and no correspondence shall be entertained. The institute takes no responsibility of intimating for cancellation of seats.

The joining of B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic) shall be accepted along with relieving certificate from their employer (for in-service candidates). No request for extension in joining shall be entertained.
