NID Admission 2017 → National Institute of Design will announce the admission details for B.Des and M.Des programs in the month of October 2016 for the academic session 2017 – 2018. NID Admissions for academic session 2017 -2018 will involve a design aptitude test, studio test and personal interview. To pursue a career in design, the institute offers design courses in various domains. Entrance exam for the bachelor and master courses is known as the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT).

Eligibility Criteria
For B.Des Course → Candidate should passed or appear for higher secondary (10+2) from any recognized Board of Education. Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years of age (relaxable by three years for reserved category).
For M.Des Course → Candidate have should passed any one of the following qualifying exams.
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under the 10+2+4 (or more) system
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under the 10+2+3 system, with a one year experience or further academic qualifications.
• Diploma in Design under the 10+2+4 system
• Upper age limit for candidates is 30 years of age (relax able by three years for reserved category).
Admission for Overseas Category Candidates
• Foreign Nationals (applicants holding citizenship of any country other than Republic of India) are eligible to apply under the Overseas category. Fifteen (15) percent supernumerary seats in B.Des. and M. Des. program mes are created for Overseas Category.
• Candidates applying in the Overseas category (supernumerary seats) applying for either B.Des or M. Des. will have to appear for their DAT only in Ahmadabad, immediately followed by Stage 2 and Stage 3 exams.
• Successful candidates will be offered admission to NID based on the final merit list of Overseas Category, prepared after completion of all the 3 stages of admission process.
Result
• Based on the scores obtained in DAT, separate merit lists shall be prepared for each category (General, OBC-NCL, SC, ST & PH). Shortlisted candidates will be called for the Studio Test and Personal Interviews.
• Number of candidates shortlisted
• From the total number of applicants who have appeared for DAT (Stage 1), the Number of candidates to be called for Stage 2 and Stage 3 of the exam will be calculated as no less than 3 X N where ‘N’ stands for number of seats in that category for that program me or discipline.
Final Merit List
• The final merit list for B.Des. program me will be generated category wise, based on the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate in each stage of the admissions process.
• The final merit list for each discipline of M.Des. program me will be generated category wise, based on the sum total of the weighted scores obtained by the candidate in each stage of the admissions process.
• The weight ages of each stage of the admission process will be as decided by the Institute.
