The Government of Karnataka established this university for the study, teaching, research and transmission of knowledge of Music and Performing arts as these are symbols of our cultural heritage.K.S.G.H. Music and Performing Arts University is the first music university in South India and second in the country. K.S.G.H. here stands for State Gangubhai Hangal thus it is also known as Karnataka State Gangubhai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University. Karnataka State Music University was established on 14.02.2008 and started its classes in the academic year 2010-2011.

Admission And Eligibility Criteria

Certificate Course

16 years and above
Per subject 10 students intake is compulsory
Knowledge of Reading Writing Kannada.
Selection Is Based On The Marks Scored In Entrance Examination.

Diploma

SSLC Or Equivalent Examination. Selection Is Based On the Marks Scored In Entrance Examination.
Per Subject 10 Students Intakes Compulsory

Undergraduate

10+2 Or SSLC With Diploma In Performing Arts.Or junior exam passed.
Selection Is Based On The Marks Scored In Entrance Examination.

Post Graduate

B.A/B.Music/BFA(in Performing Arts) or Senior/vidwat exam passed.
Any other equivalent degree from a recognized university,and qualified in the Entrance examination conducted by the vishwavidyalaya. Selection is based on the marks scored in entrance examination.
