About University

The Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) was established by the Government of India, with the assistance of FAO/UNDP on 6th June 1961. The administrative control of institute was taken over by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research on 1st April 1979.The Deemed University status conferred on it in 1989 came as a fitting tribute to its pioneering role in human resource development for fisheries sector.

Admission And Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must have passed M.F.Sc. /M.Sc. with the minimum eligibility of OGPA (Overall grade Point Average) 7 out of 10 and 3.5 out of 5 for General/ OBC category. For SC/ST the OGPA marks is 6.5 out of 10 and 3.25 out of 5.If candidate have D.F.Sc. degree then you are eligible for the course provided you have a Bachelor’s degree in biological Science and two years’ experience in fisheries development work after pursuing D.F.Sc.If candidates are among the sponsored candidates, and if you possess degree in M.F.Sc. in fish and fisheries and related disciplines with minimum two years of experience in fisheries development then you are eligible for applying.

Candidate must have Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science (B.F.SC.) under the 10+2+4 system then you fulfill the minimum eligibility for admission or candidate must have obtained 60% marks or OGPA of 6.50 out of 10, or 2.60 out of 4.00 for general and (for SC/ST categories 55% is the minimum eligibility or OGPA of 6.00 out of 10, 3 out of 5.00 or 2.40 out of 4.00).
