How to register for CAT 2016?
You can register for CAT 2016 from the official CAT 2016 website, www.iimcat.ac.in. Registration steps are as follows:
Step 1
1. Create a Profile
2. On creating a profile, your User ID will be sent by email and the Password shall be sent to the registered mobile number.
Step 2
1. Log in with system generated User ID and Password
2. Using these credentials, you can log in as an Existing User to fill out the CAT 2016 Application form.
Step 3
1. Submit Application after entering details and making online payment.
2. The application need not be completed in one sitting; you can revisit the form several times. However, you cannot edit any details on the Application form after you have made the online payment.
3. Photograph and Signature.
4. Photograph should be 35 mm x 45 mm.
5. Signature should be 80 mm x 35 mm.
6. Resolution of the image should be 150 px / inch.
7. Size of file should not be greater than 80 kb.
8. Both of these should be recent. The photograph should not be more than 6 months old.
9. Scanned images should be clear and unambiguous.
10. If the dimension of your scanned images are different, use any free online image editing tools to edit.

Common Admission Test Dates and sessions.
The CAT exam will be held on December 4, 2016.
There are two sessions in each of the days. First is the forenoon session and the second is the afternoon session.
Candidate will be randomly allotted a test date and session.
CAT Registration 2016 Guidelines
1. Visit CAT official website www.iimcat.ac.in.
2. Go to CAT Registration Form 2016.
3. Create an account by entering name, email ID, Mobile Number. Confirm your valid email ID.
4. Enter personal details, educational qualification.
5. Select any three test cities. (Please read more about test cities, given below).
6. Make payment. The online payment facility is active on CAT 2016 application form. Access net-banking or use your credit or debit card. You can also opt for e-challan.
7. Once payment is done, CAT Registration Number is generated for your CAT application form 2016.
8. Do not share your log in details with anyone.
9. CAT Registration 2016 Last Date – The last date to register for IIM CAT 2016 is 27 Sep 2016.

CAT 2016 Test Centres
1. The CAT Exam 2016 will be held in 135 cities.
2. Lot of test centres have been assigned where the computer based test will be held.
3. During online registration, you can select only four test cities.
Please note – Make the decision of test centres carefully. Once you have selected the cities, you cannot change them. Select such locations where you will be able to reach for taking the test. The final test centre allotted to you will be given in the CAT 2016 Admit Card. You will get around one month to make travel arrangements (if city allotted is not your home town). Therefore, carefully select the four test cities in CAT Registration Form 2016.
Online CAT Registration can be done here from the scheduled date. CAT Exam Registration commences here as soon as IIM CAT official website starts the process. Candidates appearing for the CAT Exam must submit their completed forms before last date. As there is expected to be a lot of rush in the final week of registration, there could be server issues on the page. You are therefore strongly advised to complete your CAT 2016 application form submission in the first two weeks only.
Eligibility Criteria
The conditions which are required to satisfy by the candidates to become eligible are laid down by the official authority. Candidates are required to fulfill each and every condition of eligibility in order to apply for Common Admission Test. CAT 2016 Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
1. The candidate is considered as eligible only is he holds the bachelor degree with minimum 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.[45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons With Disability (PWD) categories],
2. Those aspirants who are appearing in the final year can also apply as per the CAT 2016 Eligibility Criteria.
3. Those who have completed their degree and waited for the result can also apply for the examination.

How to download CAT Admit Card 2016?
The process of obtaining admit cards is completely online. It has to be printed directly from the CAT 2016 website iimcat.ac.in. The facility to download admit card begins as per schedule, and shall be available till the exam date.

1. Go to the official website of CAT 2016.
2. Navigate to the link that refers to downloading admit cards. This link will be activated as per schedule.
3. Enter Registration ID, and password.
4. Download and print the admit card.
5. CAT Admit Card 2016 indicates test centre.
6. The Common Admission Test 2016 is being conducted in various test cities. The test city and centre allotted to each candidate is indicated in the admit card of CAT 2016.

Issues in downloading CAT Admit Card 2016
Admit card of CAT 2016 if you have made a mistake in the form.
1. In case you have made a mistake in the CAT registration 2016, that affects selection process, you must re-register with a new email ID. The mistake could be regarding percentage of marks, category, gender, work experience.
2. Admit card for previous registration, or refund will not be received.
Forgot password
If you have forgotten the password for CAT 2016 admit card log in, or lost the system generated password SMS, click on Forgot Password. This link can be accessed on the Existing user login page.
When you enter details in the forgot password form, you will be prompted to enter a Captcha string. You will receive the new password on your registered email address. New password will not be sent as SMS.
Exam Pattern
CAT 2016 will be an online computer based examination. The candidates are not allowed to carry the physical calculator or any other electronic gadget in the examination hall. Mode: The CAT 2016 Exam will be conducted in the online mode.
Duration: 180 minutes or 3 hours will be given to solve the exam paper.
Type: The questions will be objective as well as descriptive type.
Sections: There are total 3 sections in the exam namely
- Verbal and Reading comprehension
- Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
- Quantitative Ability
Marking scheme
For questions other than MCQs, 3 marks are assigned for correct answer and no marks for wrong or no attempt.
The scoring scheme for multiple-choice questions is as follows
- Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks.
- An incorrect answer fetches -1.
- No marks are given or deducted for un-attempted questions.
Syllabus
All the MBA aspirants fervently look for syllabus of CAT, only to come across different syllabus put up by different websites and coaching institutes. The fact is that IIM does not specify any particular set of topics for this exam. CAT Syllabus 2016 will be deduced from its exam pattern.

Answer Key
Being an online computer based test, candidates do not get the question paper of CAT 2016. CAT 2016 Answer Key will as such not be released officially. Coaching centers may publish some Qs-Ans along with analysis of CAT exam.
Result
CAT 2016 Result Percentile may be sent to the candidates through SMS. Score Cards are made available at candidate login. You can check your SMS and see the CAT 2016 Result Percentile sent by IIM CAT. To view or download score card, log in using User ID and Password.

Score Card of CAT 2016
Score card of Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 contains the following details.
- Candidate’s name, gender, date of birth, contact details, category.
- Registration Number / User ID.
- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) – Scaled Score, Percentile.
- Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) – Scaled Score, Percentile.
- Quantitative Ability (QA) – Scaled Score, Percentile.

Normalization of CAT Score
CAT 2016 shall be conducted in two sessions. Two different Test Forms shall be administered in two Test Sessions. In order to ensure fairness and equity in comparison of performances of the candidates across different test sessions, the scores of the candidates shall be subjected to a process of Normalization.
1. Normalization process to be implemented shall adjust for location and scale differences of score distributions across different forms. After normalization across different forms the scores shall be further normalized across different sections and the scaled scores obtained by this process shall be converted into percentiles for purposes of shortlisting.
2. For purposes of reporting, Scaled Scores for each section (Section I: Quantitative Ability, Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Section III: Verbal Ability) and Total along with the Percentiles shall be published.
3. The process of Normalization is an established practice for comparing candidate scores across multiple Forms and is similar to those being adopted in other large educational selection tests conducted in India such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). For normalization across sections we shall use a sort of percentile equivalence.

Candidates please note that each IIM shortlists candidates for its second stage of selection which may be different for each IIM. The process may include Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI). Performance in CAT 2016 examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may use previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs.
IIM Admission 2017
The Indian Institutes of Management conduct the Common Admission Test. CAT 2016 is being held for selection of candidates for admission to MBA courses in various IIMs. After the CAT results are declared, list of shortlisted candidates is published. There are two main stages.
- IIM Shortlisting on basis of CAT Cut Offs.
- Written Admission Test (WAT) or Group Discussion (GD).
- Personal Interview (PI).
The first level is qualifying CAT and clearing the cut off. This is a common test to be taken by all who seek admission in IIMs. The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) admission seekers must appear in CAT. The next level consisting of WAT/GD, PI and shortlisting is done by individual IIMs. Each IIM publishes its separate criteria and details. The dates of GD/WAT and PI are fixed in accordance of each IIM and candidates are intimated accordingly.
IIM Shortlisting Criteria 2017
Candidates are shortlisted on basis of minimum CAT percentile requirement. The CAT IIM cut offs are declared by IIMs in the selection process details. List of shortlisted candidates is published soon after CAT results.
WAT / GD-PI
Earlier GD used to be conducted. Now most of the IIMs have replaced this with the WAT. Some of them have neither GD nor WAT, only PI. Weight-age is given to each stage and final score calculated accordingly.
