Assam Textile Institute, a premier institute was established by Late Rai Bahadur Kanaklal Baruah in the year 1920. Assam Textile Institute (ATI) is the only Institute, which offers courses on Textile Technology, Garment Technology and Fashion Technology under one roof. This is an unique combination since all the three courses are inter-related. It is a premier institute for textile education in North-East India and has contributed substantially in the socio-economic development of the region.

Admission and Eligibility Criteria:
1. For admission into Diploma courses the candidate must passed the H.S.L.C. or its equivalent with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subject with 40% marks in Mathematics and Science for general candidates, 35% marks in Mathematics and Science for SC candidates and 33% marks in Mathematics and Science for ST candidates.
2. The upper age limit of the candidate is 20 (twenty) years for Textile Technology and 22 (twenty two) years for Fashion Technology & Garment Technology. The upper age limit is relaxible by 3 (three) years for SC/ST candidates.
Examination
Examination conducted by SCTE in semester system. Semester examinations are held in the month of June and December every year.
Vacation
After completion of semester exam institute closed for 22 days as term end vacation.
Holiday list
Holidays are as declared by the Govt. of Assam.
