XAT 2017 – Xavier Entrance Exam Details

XAT 2017 will be conducted on Sunday 8th January 2017. XLRI conducts XAT on behalf of the XAMI. For more than 60 years XLRI is conducting XAT at all India level to select the most appropriate students for management education. The XAT score is being used by more than 150 institutes for the admission.

Xavier Aptitude Test of XAT 2017 was announced officially in August 2016. There is a time window of three and half months until 30th November 2016 to register for XAT at xatonline.net.in without late fee. In addition those who do not submit application form till then can pay late fee and register till 11th December 2016. Applicants can download XAT 2017 admit card as per schedule and appear for exam. Application Form XAT 2017

XLRI has activated link for registration online at xatonline.net.in. Only eligible candidates should apply online for the exam. Application fee for all candidates is the same amount, irrespective of category. 

Application Fees is Rs 1600. If you are interested in XLRI programmes, pay Rs 300 as well as Rs 1600.

How to apply for XAT 2017?

• Visit the link in the first place. Create new account with the personal email id. Once you do that, you will receive a unique ID and registration link.
• Now that you have log in details, open the registration link and create password.
• Next, select test city, fill in name. Also upload photograph and signature.
• After that select citizenship.
• In the event that you are interested in applying for XLRI, select the program of choice. Otherwise, skip this step.
• Fill information asked for in the XAT 2017 Registration Form. All data should be correct. With this in mind, refer to official documents while filling up application form.
• Pay application fee.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent in any discipline. Those completing their final examination by 10 Jun 2017 may also apply.

2. All Indian candidates must appear for XAT 2017. However, NRI and Foreign candidates may apply through GMAT score (except Dubai and Kathmandu wherein candidates also have an option of appearing for XAT 2017).

Admit Card

XAT applicants can download the XAT Admit Card 2017 at xatonline.net.in. Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2017 hall ticket can be downloaded by logging in to XAT online portal. You will need to enter XAT registration ID and password to download XAT 2017 Admit Card.

Please note that only those candidates who have applied before last date can get the hall ticket. Also those candidates who have made payment through DD, their posts should have reached XLRI within 15 days of issue of the DD. In case of any delay, your admit card could be withheld.

XAT Admit Card 2017 will be issued form 20 Dec 2016 onward.

Details mentioned in the XAT 2017 Admit Card are as follows

• Applicant name – as mentioned in the form. This name should be exactly same as given in candidate’s class X certificate.
• Details of the exam such as date and time.
• Test center allotted to the candidate. Candidate is advised to visit the test center a day in advance to familiarize with the route and make sure they reach the venue on time on the day of exam.
• XAT 2017 registration ID or Roll number.
• Exam day instructions for the candidate.

Once you get the admit card, it is advised that you check all details given on it. In case of any discrepancy, please contact XAT office immediately.

How to download XAT Admit Card 2017?

As per schedule, visit xatonline.net.in.

• Go to “Download Admit Card” link.
• Enter your XAT 2017 registration ID and password.
• Go to hall ticket download section.
• You will get PDF version of the hall ticket.
• Download and take print out on plain white sheet.

The candidate must safely preserve the admit card of XAT 2017. It is compulsory to be carried on the day of exam. Those candidates who do not carry their hall ticket will not be allowed to enter the test center.

Exam Pattern

The exam is conducted so as to test the ability the candidate to solve the problematic questions. The exam will be conducted in two (2) parts which are Part I and Part II. XAT Syllabus 2017

Xavier Aptitude Test is designed to test a candidate’s problem solving skills and decision making abilities. The syllabus, though not defined by the exam conducting body, is projected using last year’s question papers. To prepare for XAT candidates can follow broadly the syllabus given below.

Verbal and logical ability – Analogies, Paragraph including prose and poetry based reading comprehension, syllogism, relationships between words, paragraph re arrangement or paragraph jumbling, pronunciation.

Decision making – A situation is given, followed by decisions proposed. Test taker has to mark the best decision from a management perspective, and from the POV of protagonist portrayed in the situation.

Quantitative ability and data interpretation – Algebra, area and volume, cost and quantity, word problems using simple arithmetic, progression and series, geometry, trigonometry, functions, decimal system and other systems, ratio and proportion, analysis of graphs, questions derived from charts and tables and graphs.

General knowledge – Static GK and Current affairs.

Essay writing – Essay can be on any topic.

Following is last year’s exam pattern

• Duration: The time duration to complete the exam paper is 210 minutes.
• Part I: It comprises of the three sections with a total of 78 questions respectively.
• Part II: It comprises of 25 questions based on GK and followed by an essay.
• The format of the XAT 2017 is to be pen – paper based.

Marking Scheme

• All questions carry equal marks.
• Negative marking of 0.25 marks will apply on the incorrect answers.
• Deduction of 0.05 marks will be done for UNATTEMPTED questions. However, this penalty will not be applicable for a maximum of 13 UN – Attempted questions.

XAT 2017 Answer Key

XLRI conducts a fair and transparent exam. The purpose of releasing answer keys and OMR sheets is two fold – one, it helps test takers know correct answers of the exam; two, it eliminates any doubt in the mind of test takers about discrepancies in results.

The XAT 2017 Answer Key will be made available soon after the examination. The answer key proves beneficial for the candidates as it contains the correct answers to the questions in the exam paper. With the help of the answer key, the candidate is able to estimate their marks and percentile by comparing their answers with that of the XAT 2017 Answer Key.

Result XAT 2017

The XAT 2017 Result will be issued by the XLRI on 31 Jan 2017. All candidates can check their result online at xatonline.net.in. XLRI – Xavier School of Management will also release the score card. The score card depicts the candidate’s performance in the XAT 2017 Exam.

The XAT 2017 Result furnishes two important things

• Overall and sectional percentage
• Overall and sectional percentile

XAT 2017 Score Card – Keep the score card safely after downloading and printing it. Click on the download button when you reach the score card while checking result.

XAT Exam 2017 is taken by more than 90000 MBA aspirants each year. This is second largest MBA entrance exam after CAT (Common Admission Test).

Highest Score – It is interesting to note that in XAT there is no negative percentile. The scoring is such that the scores are scaled appropriately and there is no negative final percentile. Another interesting thing is that the XAT Topper does not get 100 percentile. The highest score in XAT last year (2016) was 51.75/78.

Cut Off

A cut off score is the one that merits being called for admission. XLRI will reveal cut off of XAT 2017 after announcing the exam results. In the meantime you can go through last year’s cut offs. For XLRI, the XAT Cut Off was as follows

• Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning – 77.47 (for BM), 69.128 (for HR)
• Decision Making – 78.042 (for BM), 68.978 (for HR)
• Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation – 88.60 (for BM), 69.00 (for HR)
• Total – 96 (for BM), 94.4 (for HR), 69 (for GMP)

XAT Accepting Colleges 2017

Last year more than 100 colleges all across India accepted XAT scores and results. XLRI takes the responsibility of conducting XAT exam and then admission to XLRI only. Other colleges that accept XAT scores announce information specifically for admission process. Candidate should be aware of all the colleges he / she wishes to apply and apply accordingly. XAT Marks vs Percentile – It is difficult to predict marks vs percentile data for XAT. The scoring process is unique. Last year the exam conducting body introduced some changes in scoring. They in fact deducted marks for un-attempted questions beyond 13 as well as for incorrect answers. At the present time, it is in your best interests to focus on scoring high.
