MAH MCA CET 2016 – Common Entrance Exam Details

MAH MCA CET 2016 is the Common Entrance Test for MCA admissions in Maharashtra. For admission to state government approved First Year / Second Year of three year full time Post Graduate Degree course in Master of Computer Applications (MCA) for the academic year 2016-17, DTE Maharashtra had conduct the MAH MCA CET 2016 in the month of March. Application Form for MAH MCA CET 2016

Application form of MAH MCA CET 2016 is available now from the official website of DTE. Before filling up the form, candidate must satisfy that he / she fulfills all the eligibility conditions. Thereafter, the application form of Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for MCA can be submitted online at www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in. Candidate may also fill the online application form through the direct link, which is given below.

Before applying online, applicants should-

1. Scan their photograph and signature ensuring that both the photograph and signature adhere to the required specifications as given under Guideline for photograph & signature scan and upload.

2. Have a valid personal email ID and mobile no., which should be kept active till the completion of admission Process. In case a candidate does not have a valid personal e-mail ID, he/she should create his/her new e-mail ID and mobile no. before applying on-line and must maintain that email account and mobile number.

3. Arrange for Application Fees (Non refundable), Bank Transaction charges for Online Payment of application fees will have to be borne by the candidate.

Applications sent by Post/Courier etc., to ARCs/DTE office will be rejected and no communication in this regard will be made.

How to fill Application Form

The procedure adopted for form submissions is only online. Four simple steps are to be followed to complete the online application form.

Step 1 : Fill Registration Details, Note down system generated Registration Number and Password

1. Go to DTE Maharashtra’s official website. Click on the link that says Apply Online for MAH MCA CET or candidates can also apply through the direct ‘Apply Online’ link, which is given above.

2. To register application, choose the tab “Click here for New Registration” and enter Name, Contact details and E-mail ID as per their requirement. A provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen. Applicant should note down the Provisional Registration Number and Password. An Email & SMS indicating the Provisional Registration number and Password will also be sent.

3. After successful submission of the data, Application ID will be generated and it will be used to complete the remaining Steps of the Application Form (Upload Images of Photo and Signature, Edit /Save Data, Payment) and also required for all future correspondence.

4. For subsequent logins, candidate will be able to login directly with his/her respective system generated Registration number and Password.

Step 2 : Upload Scanned Images of Photograph and Signature

1. Set the scanner resolution to a minimum of 200 dpi (dots per inch).

2. The scanned images of photograph, Signature and thumb impression should be in .jpg/.jpeg format only.

3. Size of the photo image should be between 20 kb–50 kb.

4. Size of the signature image should be between 10 kb – 20 kb. (The applicant has to sign on white paper with Black Ink pen).

5. Dimension of photograph image should be 200 x 230 pixels (preferred).

6. Dimension of signature image should be 140 x 60 pixels (preferred).

Step 3 : Edit/Save Data

1. The candidate can check the data filled. In case of any correction, edit the same and correct it.

2. Once the data is saved, candidate can not change the data.

Step 4 : Pay Application Fee

1. The payment can be made by using Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro). Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallet.

2. After submitting your payment information in the online application form, please wait for the intimation from the server. Do not press back or refresh button in order to avoid double charge.

3. On successful completion of the transaction, an e-Receipt will be generated.

4. Non-generation of ‘e-Receipt’ indicates Payment Failure. On failure of payment, applicants are advised to login again using their Provisional Registration Number and Password and repeat the process of payment.

5. Applicants are required to take a printout of the e-Receipt and online application form. Please note that if the same cannot be generated, online transaction may not have been successful.

Note: No other mode of payment of fees will be accepted.

General Instructions:

  • The Candidate has to submit and confirm the Online Application Form for CET through candidate login by himself/herself from the place convenient to him/her.
  • The schedule displayed above is provisional and may change under unavoidable circumstances.
  • The revised schedule, if any, will be notified on website www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in/mca2016.

Eligibility Criteria

1. The candidate should be an Indian National.

2. Passed minimum three year duration Bachelors Degree awarded by University recognized by University Grants Commission or Association of Indian Universities in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent (at least 45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only).

3. Studied Mathematics as one of the subjects at (10+2) level or at Graduate level examination.

4. For Direct second year admissions, the candidate should have passed Bachelor Degree in Computer Applications or Science (Information Technology or Computer Science). (Candidates appearing for final year of qualifying examination are also eligible to appear for CET).

5. Aggregate marks means the grand total of marks obtained by the candidate in subjects based on which the class declaration is made in the particular University from which the candidate is passing the qualifying examination.

6. In case the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the University/institution from where they have obtained the bachelor’s degree.

7. The percentage of marks shall be calculated by rounding off to two places after decimal.

8. The candidates belonging to SC, VJ/DT (NT (A)), NT (B), NT(C), NT (D), OBC and SBC categories should produce “Caste Validity Certificate” issued by Scrutiny Committee of Social Welfare Department and the Candidate belonging to ST category should submit “Tribe Validity Certificate” issued by Scrutiny Committee of Tribal Department and valid Non Creamy Layer certificate except SC, ST candidates at the time of verification of documents.

MAH MCA CET 2016 Admit Card

Based on the information filled in online application form, hall tickets has been issued to all the candidates. Each candidate who has submitted the application form of MAH CET 2016 shall have to login and download MAH CET MCA admit card 2016 from www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in as per schedule given above.

How to download MAH MCA CET Admit Card 2016?

The step by step procedure to download the admit card of MAH MCA CET 2016 is quite simple and given here now that the hall ticket has been issued online. Candidate must keep ready log in credentials such as username and password to get the hall ticket. Briefly, the following procedure is to be followed to download the hall ticket.

1. Go to the official website of MAH MCA CET 2016 at www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in.

2. Navigate to the candidate log in page.

3. Proceed to the link that says Please Click Here to Download your MCA Registration 2016 Hall Ticket.

4. Enter login details and click on submit or enter button.

5. Download your MAH MCA CET 2016 admit card and take a color print out.

6. Read the instructions regarding the exam carefully, that are printed in your hall ticket.

Note: 

Candidates have to produce in original the photo identity proof along with Examination Hall Ticket while attending the examination, without which they will not be allowed to take up the examination. Candidates must note that the name as appearing on the Hall Ticket (provided during the process of registration) should reasonably match the name as appearing on the photo identity proof. Female candidates who have changed first/last/middle name post marriage must take special note of this. If there is any mismatch between the name indicated in the Hall Ticket and Photo Identity Proof the candidate will not be allowed to appear for the examination. In case of candidates who have changed their name, will be allowed only if they produce original Gazette notification / their original marriage certificate / affidavit in original.

Exam Pattern of MAH MCA CET 2016

MAH MCA CET 2016 will be conducted in the selected cities in Maharashtra & outside Maharashtra State. The cities in which MAH-MCA-CET 2016 will be conducted are designated as “Centre” for the CET.

The Online CET would be comprised of two online papers viz. General Aptitude (GA) and Computer Concepts (CC) of 100 marks each, with composite time of 90 minutes duration. Each paper shall have 25 questions.

The test will comprise of multiple choice objective type questions (Four options).

Syllabus of MAH MCA CET 2016

General Aptitude

The main objective of this paper is to assess the general aptitude of the candidate to pursue a computer applications and software profession.

The questions in this paper will cover: logical reasoning. quantitative reasoning, high school mathematics, vocabulary, English comprehension and verbal ability. A good grasp of the following topics of high school mathematics (up to the 12th standard) will be useful:

Algebra : Fundamental operations in Algebra. Expansion, factorization, Quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, binomial theorem, permutations and combinations.

Co-ordinate Geometry : Rectangular Cartesian co-ordinates, equations of a line, mid point, intersections etc.. equations of a circle, distance formula, pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, simple geometric transformations such as translation, rotation, scaling.

Differential Equations: Differential equations of first order and their solutions, linear differential equations with constant coefficients, homogeneous linear differential equations.

Trigonometry: Simple identities. trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, solution of triangles, height and distance, inverse function.

Probability and Statistics : Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, and measures of dispersions, skewness and kurtosis, random variable and distribution functions, mathematical expectations, Binomial, Poisson, normal distributions, curve fitting, and principle of least squares, correlation and regression.

Arithmetic: Ratios and proportions, problems on time-work, distance-speed, percentage, etc.
Basic Set Theory and Functions: Set, relations and mappings.

Mensuration: areas, triangles and quadrilaterals, area and circumference of circles, volumes and surface areas of simple solids such as cubes, spheres, cylinders and cones.

Computer Concepts

Computer Basics : Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, memory organization, back-up devices.

Data Representation : Representation of characters, integers, and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, Binary Arithmetic : Addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, signed arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, normalized floating point representation, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.

Computer Architecture: Block structure of computers, communication between processor and I/O devices, interrupts.

Computer Language: Assembly language and high level language, Multi-programming and time sharing operating systems, Computer Programming in C.

Operating System basics: Multi-programming and time-sharing operating systems.
